Salzburger Aluminium Group

The Client: 
The Salzburger Aluminium Group is an international supplier of aluminium components and systems for the automotive and commercial vehicle industries and of high-performance materials for the processing industry. Due to a sharp fall in demand as a result of the global economic crisis, revenues declined from EUR 339 million in 2008 to EUR 170 million in 2009. This loss of earnings triggered a crisis that threatened the company's survival. 

The Project (Rent-a-CRO): 
Management Factory started working for the SAG Group in an advisory capacity in August 2009, and from December 2009 to June 2010 filled two management board functions in the holding companies and one managing director function in an operating subsidiary. Management Factory’s task was to implement the restructuring programme. From May 2010 to March 2011 Management Factory also supplied the head of Controlling at the Alutech Group, a fully consolidated subsidiary.

Highlights:

  • Development of a restructuring concept 
  • Cost cutting by means of personnel measure and (partial) plant closures 
  • Introduction of a controlling system to improve the control and tracking of strategic measures.
